Extract of the bioconverted fine root of ginseng induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in mouse colon cancer cells

Abstract Cancer is the major cause of death worldwide, and anticancer effect ginseng its main root has been studied. However, study fine (FRG) still insufficient. The purpose this was to discover a new from FRG, which does not show an effect, through bioconversion technique. We measured compared cell viability in FRG- bioconverted (BFRG)-stimulated CT26 cells investigate differences caused by bioconversion. Cell suppressed upon treatment with BFRG, unlike FRG. BFRG on apoptosis cycle arrest investigated flow cytometry. BFRG-stimulated showed increased apoptotic arrest. Additionally, induced mitochondrial impairment reducing expression anti-apoptosis protein Bcl-2. When confirming signaling pathway, it found that p38 MAPK pathway activated BFRG. Collectively, our results reveal effects against colorectal cancer represent potential targets for drug development.
